A certain document, three copies of which are on file in the
Borough Office of the Borough of Doylestown, being designated as the
current edition of the International Fire Code, as published by the
International Code Council, Inc., subject to such portions as are
hereinafter deleted, modified or amended, be and is hereby adopted
as the Fire Prevention Code of the Borough of Doylestown for the control
of buildings and structures as therein provided; and each and all
of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions, and terms of
the current edition of the International Fire Code, including all
supplements and editions to date, and to be issued in the future,
are hereby adopted and made a part thereof, as if fully set out at
length herein.

Wherever any provision or requirement of the regulations of the Department of Labor and Industry of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is more stringent or stricter than a provision or requirement of this Part 2, the applicable provision or requirement of the said Department of Labor and Industry shall any supersede any such provision or requirement of this Part.

The International Fire Code hereby adopted is amended as follows:
1.
The "Borough of Doylestown" shall be inserted wherever the words
"[Name of Jurisdiction]" appear in brackets therein.
2.
Section 109.3 is hereby amended to read as follows:
109.3 Violation Penalties: Persons who shall violate
a provision of this code or shall fail to comply with any of the requirements
thereof or who shall erect, install, alter, repair or do work in violation
of the approved construction documents or direction of the Code Official,
or of a permit or certificate used under provisions of this Code shall
be guilty of a summary offense, punishable by a fine of up to $1,000,
and/or imprisonment for not more than 90 days. Every day that a violation
of this code continues after due notice has been served shall be deemed
a separate offense.

Section 111.4 is hereby amended to read as follows:
111.4 Violation Penalties: Any person who shall
continue any work after having been served with a stop-work order,
except such work as that person is directed to perform to remove a
violation of unsafe condition, shall be guilty of a summary offense,
punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000 and/or by imprisonment
not exceeding 90 days. Each day that a violation continues after due
notice has been served shall be deemed a separate offense.

Section 907.3.1 is hereby added, which shall read as follows:
907.3.1 Mixed Uses: In all existing buildings or
structures that have a mixed Use Group involving or including a Residential
(R) Use Group and any other Use Group, there shall be a battery-powered
smoke detector in each dwelling room and a hardwired interconnected
smoke detector in the corridors. These detectors shall be spaced at
such a distance as determined by the Code Official or his designated
appointee.

5.
Section 906.1, Subsection l, is hereby amended to include Use Group
R-3 occupancies.
6.
Section 107.6 is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 107.6 Overcrowding: A person shall not
permit overcrowding or admittance of any person beyond the approved
posted occupant load. The Code Official, or any Borough police officer,
upon finding overcrowded conditions or obstructions in aisles, passageways
or other means of egress, or upon finding any condition which constitutes
a hazard to life and safety, may cause the occupancy, performance,
presentation, spectacle or entertainment to be stopped until such
a condition or obstruction is corrected and the addition of any further
occupants prohibited until the approved posted occupant load is reestablished
and may issue a citation for such violations without regard to the
notice requirement of Section 109.
