A. 
The Town Board of the Town of Barton, Washington County, Wisconsin, has the specific authority under § 349.17, Wis. Stats., to adopt this article.
B. 
This article, adopted by a majority vote of the Town Board on a roll-call vote with a quorum present and voting and proper notice having been given, designates Town highways as heavy traffic routes as follows.
In this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
HEAVY TRAFFIC
All vehicles not operating completely on pneumatic tires and all vehicles or combination of vehicles designed or used for transporting property of any nature and having a gross weight of more than 6,000 pounds.
The following Town of Barton highways are designated as heavy traffic routes, and heavy traffic on the following Town highways is restricted or prohibited as follows:
A. 
The intersection of Sleepy Hollow Road to Lighthouse Lane and all of Newark Drive, ending at Highway 144, prohibits traffic above a gross vehicle weight of 15,000 tons (30,000 pounds' gross vehicle weight).
The Town shall place appropriate traffic signs on the above-described highway on or before the effective date of this article.
No person may operate any vehicle on the above-noted highway in violation of the above-noted restrictions or prohibitions. Any violation shall be subject to a forfeiture of $100 for a first offense, $200 for a second offense and $500 for each violation thereafter.
This article is effective on the publication and posting of the same as allowed by law, subject to appropriate signage being erected on the prescribed roadway.
