The Town of Easton shall continue to govern its affairs under
and be subject to the applicable provisions of the General Statutes
and applicable special acts of the Legislature. To the extent permitted
by the General Statutes it shall, acting through the Board of Selectmen
and Town Meeting, adopt such ordinances, amendments and resolutions
as are necessary or appropriate to the general health and welfare
of its inhabitants.
Subject to the provisions of Chapter
90, Title 7, of the General Statutes, the legislative body of the Town shall be the Town Meeting.
A Special Town Meeting may be convened for any proper purpose by the Selectmen of the Town or by a petition of 50 inhabitants qualified to vote at such meeting submitted in accordance with Chapter
90 of the General Statutes.
Each Town Meeting shall elect a Moderator who shall preside
over said meeting in accordance with §§ 7-7 and 7-8
of the General Statutes.
