[HISTORY: Adopted by the Township Committee of the Township
of Eagleswood 12-21-1979 by Ord. No. 14-79 (Ch. 8 of the 1977 Township

It is the purpose of this chapter to establish the Eagleswood
Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 as the Township's official volunteer
fire company in order to facilitate its entry into the New Jersey
State Firemen's Association.
It is hereby determined and declared that the Eagleswood Volunteer
Fire Company No. 1, a duly incorporated volunteer fire company of
the State of New Jersey, is and shall continue to be the official
volunteer fire company of the Township of Eagleswood.
No person shall hereafter become a member of the Eagleswood
Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 or any unit thereof unless above the
age of 18 years and not over the age of 40 years and a citizen of
the United States of good moral character. He or she shall be physically
fit to perform the duties of a fireman as evidenced by a certificate
to that effect by a practicing physician of the State of New Jersey.
This certificate shall be provided at either member's own expense
or the expense of the Eagleswood Volunteer Fire Company No. 1.
Every member of the fire department shall, in each and every
year, perform at least 60% of duty, to be composed of actual attendance
and duty at fires and drills. A record shall be kept of such attendance
and duty by the Chief of the Fire Department and reported to the Township
Committee annually.
Each person seeking to join the Eagleswood Volunteer Fire Company
No. 1 shall make application to the company and upon election to membership
by vote of a majority of the unit present and voting, he or she shall
become a member in good standing of the Eagleswood Volunteer Fire
Company No. 1 after approval of his or her membership by the Chief
of the Department and confirmation by the Township Committee. His
or her name shall be entered on a roll of firemen kept by the Township
Clerk.
Exemption certificates from the above requirements may be issued
to members of the Eagleswood Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 who shall
have served seven years in active duty under municipal control.
Upon adoption of this chapter, the Township Clerk is hereby
authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this chapter
to the New Jersey State Firemen's Association.

A.
The Mayor and Township Committee of the Township of Eagleswood do
hereby authorize the execution of a contract with the Eagleswood Township
Volunteer Fire Company for firefighting services, a copy of which
is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
B.
A copy of this section, with the contract annexed thereto, shall
be kept on file in the office of the Eagleswood Township Clerk and
shall be available for public inspection.
