A. 
A separate and independent building sewer shall be provided for every building, and for this article each side of a double house shall be considered a separate property.
B. 
Old building sewers may be used in connection with new or old buildings only when they are found, on examination and test by the Plumbing Subcode Official, to reasonably conform in all respects to the requirements governing new sanitary sewers.
C. 
No person(s) shall make connection of sump pumps, roof leaders or downspouts, foundation drains, areaway drains, or other sources of surface runoff or groundwater to a building sewer which in turn is connected directly or indirectly to a sanitary sewer.
D. 
A properly arranged grease trap shall be placed between each building sewer and the kitchen and pantry sinks of every hotel, eating house, restaurant, cafe, food-handling facility or public cooking establishment.
A. 
Construction of the building sewer, including alignment, materials in construction and the methods in excavating, placing of the pipe, jointing, testing and backfilling the trench, and connection of the building sewer into the sanitary sewer, shall all conform to the requirements of the Building and Plumbing Code or other applicable rules and regulations of the Township. In the absence of code provisions or in amplification thereof, the materials and procedures set forth in appropriate specifications of the American Society of Testing and Materials and Water Environmental Federation Manual of Practice No. FD-5 shall apply. Any deviation from the prescribed procedures and materials must be approved by the Plumbing Subcode Official before installation.
B. 
The applicant for the building sewer permit shall notify the Plumbing Subcode Official when the building sewer is ready for inspection and connection to the sanitary sewer. The connection and testing shall be made under the supervision of the Plumbing Subcode Official or his representative.
C. 
All excavations for building sewer installations shall be adequately guarded with barricades and lights so as to protect the public from hazard. Streets, sidewalks, parkways, and other public property disturbed in the course of the work shall be restored in a manner satisfactory to the Township.
D. 
In the process of installing and connecting a building sewer to a sanitary sewer, no sanitary sewer shall remain open to inflow of groundwater, surface water and/or stormwater for more than 10 hours.
E. 
Where any connection from any building would require cutting the pavement of a street paved with concrete or having a concrete base, a single opening to the curb may be made from the sanitary sewer to the curb. If the connection is made for a double house, independent connection to the main sewer from each side of the double house must be made.
F. 
No building sewer shall be connected to a manhole on the sewer system unless approved by the Director of the Department of Water Pollution Control. Inside drop connections to manholes are not permitted within the sewer system.
G. 
Sanitary sewers installed with unused points of connection for building sewers shall have said points of connection capped for watertight integrity prior to connection of the building sewer. The method of capping shall be one approved by the Director of the Department of Water Pollution Control.
H. 
All sewer design and improvements, including sewer lines, manholes and other appurtenances, shall conform with N.J.A.C. 7:14A-23 et al. and Township construction standards that are on file with the Township Engineer.
