The Borough Council hereby elects to accept and become bound by the provisions of Section 1005 of the Borough Code,[1] which section provides that the Borough Council shall by resolution, before the close of each fiscal year, annually appoint an independent auditor who shall be a certified public accountant registered in Pennsylvania, a firm of certified public accountants so registered or a competent public accountant or a competent firm of public accountants.

The office of elected Borough Auditor is hereby abolished, provided that the Borough Auditors currently in office shall continue to hold their office during the term for which elected but shall not audit, settle, or adjust the accounts audited by such independent auditor. Elected Borough Auditors shall perform the other duties of their office until the expiration of their respective terms.
