When used in this Chapter, the following term shall have the meaning set out herein:
TAXICAB
Any motor vehicle performing a bona fide for hire taxicab service having a capacity of not more than five (5) passengers, exclusive of the driver, and not operated on a regular route or between fixed termini.

It shall be unlawful for any person to operate within the City, a taxicab as defined herein, without first securing a license.

An application for a license under this Chapter shall be accompanied by an insurance policy for public liability in an amount not less than one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) per person and three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000.00) per occurrence; and for property damage insurance in an amount not less than fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) per occurrence, for a period of not less than one (1) year, insuring the same person, firm or corporation making said application.

Each taxicab or motor vehicle for hire shall display a sign that can be plainly seen from the front or rear of said vehicle and located above the top line of the windshield of said vehicle, and shall have the word "Taxi" lettered thereon, in letters of not less than three (3) inches in height, and such sign shall be lighted during the nighttime.

Each vehicle used as a taxi shall be registered with the City Clerk.

Any person who either directly or indirectly engages, exercises or carries on business or trade provided in this Chapter without having procured a license, or who cancels an existing insurance policy required herein after obtaining such a license, shall be deemed guilty of an ordinance violation. Each day that any person shall engage in the business in violation of the provisions of this Chapter shall be deemed a new and separate offense.
