It shall be the duty of the City Planner to maintain the numbering system of the City assigning a consecutive street number to each business building or dwelling presently erected or in the process of erection in the City and leaving a number available for each twenty-five (25) feet of vacant land along the streets of the City and assigning one-half (½) numbers to each second (2nd) story building or dwelling presently occupied by a tenant different from the first (1st) story tenant. The buildings or dwellings and lots shall be numbered north and south from the intersection of Elm Street and Main Street and east and west from such intersection.

The City Planner, in conjunction with a representative of the postal service and emergency services, shall constitute a staff committee responsible for assigning addresses and naming streets within the City of Republic.
The committee shall assign a consecutive street number to each structure presently erected or in the process of erection in the City, leaving a minimum of one (1) number for each twenty-five (25) feet of vacant street frontage. Letter prefixes or suffixes shall not be used, with the single exception of multi-family apartment complexes with more than four (4) units.
All structures on either the north or the west side of City streets shall be assigned odd-numbered addresses, and all structures on either the south or the east side shall be assigned even-numbered addresses.
All structures shall be numbered north and south of Elm Street and east and west of Main Street with increasing number units, excluding all structures facing, and directly adjacent to, U.S. Highway 60, which shall be numbered east and west of Main Street with increasing numbers.

It shall be the duty of each structure owner to attach the address number(s) assigned by the committee to the structure(s).
Single-family and two-family residential structure owners shall affix the assigned number(s) to a conspicuous location on the front entrance(s) to each separate dwelling unit.
Multi-family apartment structure owners shall affix the assigned numbers or letters to conspicuous locations on the front entrances to each separate dwelling unit. If letter designations are used to distinguish individual apartment units within a single structure, the owner shall affix the assigned number to a conspicuous location on either the front or the side of the structure.
All commercial structure owners shall affix the assigned number in a conspicuous location on the front entrance. If the structure has a rear entrance/exit, the owner shall affix the assigned number in a conspicuous location on the rear of the structure.
Such numbers shall be a minimum of three (3) inches in height and shall be attached at the expense of the structure owner. If a structure is set back more than fifty (50) feet from the roadway, such numbers shall be a minimum of six (6) inches in height.
New structures shall have address numbers attached prior to occupation or use.
Structures under construction shall have temporary address numbers posted along the right-of-way until such time that the permanent numbers are affixed to the structure.

All arterial and collector roadways within the City of Republic shall be designated as Avenues when running north and south, and as Streets when running east and west, with exception to Main, which shall be classified as a street. Local neighborhood roadways may alternatively be designated by the committee as roads, courts, ways, lanes, circles, drives, and places as per the following diagram.

It shall be the responsibility of the staff committee to assign names to public roadways within the City.
