Pursuant to Act No. 246 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1945 (MCL 41.181 et seq., MSA 5.45(1) et seq.), as amended, and Act No. 147 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1968 (MCL 764.9a et seq., MSA 28.868(1) et seq.), as amended by Act No. 147 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1970 (MCL 764.9c et seq., MSA 28.868(3) et seq.), there is hereby established the office of ordinance enforcement officer within and for the township.

The township board is hereby authorized to appoint by resolution any person to the office of ordinance enforcement officer for such term or terms as may be specified in the resolution. The board may, within its discretion, remove any person appointed to that office at any time.

The duties of the ordinance enforcement officer shall include:
(1) 
Investigating ordinance violations;
(2) 
Serving notices of violations;
(3) 
Serving appearance tickets as authorized by Act No. 147 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1968 (MCL 764.9a et seq., MSA 28.868(1) et seq.), as amended by Act No. 147 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1970 (MCL 764.9c et seq., MSA 28.868(3) et seq.);
(4) 
Appearing in judicial proceedings in connection with ordinance violations; and
(5) 
Such other duties concerning ordinance enforcement as may be assigned from time to time by the township board.

The authority of the ordinance enforcement officer shall be limited only to the enforcement of the ordinances of the township specified by resolution of the township board. Where an ordinance specifically authorizes an official other than the ordinance enforcement officer to enforce that ordinance, the authority of the ordinance enforcement officer shall be in addition to the authority granted such official. The authority of such official to enforce that ordinance shall continue and in no way be diminished or impaired by this section.
