The Board of Aldermen shall elect a Clerk for such Board, to be known as "The City Clerk of the City of Fenton, Missouri."

The City Clerk shall be elected by the Board, as prescribed in Section 125.060, at the first regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen following the election of the Mayor of the City of Fenton in April of alternate years, and shall hold his/her office for a term of two (2) years, said term to coincide with the term of the office of the Mayor of the City of Fenton, or until his/her successor is appointed and qualified or until, if for any reason, the City shall vacate said office or unless he/she be sooner removed from office in the manner provided in Section 79.240, RSMo.

A. 
The City Clerk shall keep a journal of the proceedings of the Board of Aldermen, shall keep all of the books and records belonging to the City which may be entrusted to his/her care, shall be the general accountant of the City, shall extend all assessments and taxes upon the books of the Collector, shall keep the official Seal of the City and affix it to documents as may be required, shall administer official oath and oaths to persons certifying demands or claims against the City, and shall perform such other duties as may be incident to and inherent in said office or may be delegated from time to time by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Fenton.
B. 
The City Clerk shall receive all applications and issue such permits as directed by the Board of Aldermen.
