Note — The city of Republic is a fourth class
city by reason of an election held October 27, 1891.
Note — Election ord. no. 05-78, adopted September
26, 2005, submitted the following question to the voters at the April
4, 2006, election, "Shall a commission be chosen to frame a charter?".
Since this question was approved by the voters, the commission was
set up with the 13 candidates receiving the highest number of votes,
which shall, as the commission, meet and deliberate as is necessary
to draft a charter that may then be submitted to the electorate for
approval pursuant to Section 19 of Article 6 of the Constitution of
the State of Missouri. All necessary expenses of the commission shall
be paid by the City.
