The Police Department shall consist of the Chief of Police and any officers that are appointed.

The Chief of Police shall, in the discharge of his/her duties, be subject to the orders of the Mayor and, if directed, the City Administrator. The Deputy Chief of Police and all other members of the Police Department shall be subject to the orders of their superiors in the Police Department, Mayor, and if directed, the City Administrator.
In those Sections of Title III of the Code of Ordinances in which the Chief of Police is given certain authority as to traffic rules and regulations, said authority shall be subject to the ultimate power and authority of the City Council.

Police Officers shall receive such salary as the City Council may, from time to time and by ordinance, determine.

There is hereby authorized to be established an Auxiliary Police Force. Auxiliary Police shall be qualified and governed by the rules and regulations established by Chapter 590, RSMo. Auxiliary Police shall be subject to the command of and shall abide by the rules, regulations and policies established by the Chief of Police. Notwithstanding any other provision promulgated by the City Council, Chief of Police, or Mayor, the Auxiliary Police officers shall not be required to live within the City limits of the City of Louisiana. There shall be no more than twelve (12) Auxiliary Police, who shall be nominated and approved by the Police Personnel Board.

The Mayor shall have authority to appoint special Police, subject to the confirmation of the City Council, in cases of extraordinary emergencies or when for other causes the public safety may require it. Such special Police shall be discharged as soon as the emergency calling for their appointment ceases to exist.

No person shall willfully fail or refuse to comply with any lawful order or direction of any Police Officer.

All newly hired regular Police Officers shall be required to have four hundred seventy (470) hours of training for certification and auxiliary officers shall have no more or less than one hundred twenty (120) hours of training for certification, both in accordance with Section 590.105, RSMo.
Newly hired Police Officers shall have a one (1) year period after appointment to be certified by the Missouri Department of Public Safety.
