The City Clerk shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Board of Aldermen and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and Board as provided by law.

The City Clerk shall keep a journal of the proceedings of the Board of Aldermen, Board of Adjustment, Planning and Zoning Commission, Ways and Means Committee, Police and Fire Commission and all other boards, commissions and committees established by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen; shall safely and properly keep all the records and papers belonging to the City which may be entrusted to the care of the City Clerk; shall issue all licenses for the City; shall maintain all vehicle titles and is hereby empowered to administer official oaths to persons certifying to demands or claims against the City; and such other duties as the City Administrator, Mayor and Board of Aldermen may heretofore and hereafter direct.

The City Clerk shall be one of the City Officials who shall be empowered to sign all checks for the City.

The City Clerk will serve as a full-time "at will" employee for an indefinite period at the pleasure of the Mayor, in accordance with the State of Missouri laws for a Fourth Class City.

The City Clerk, with the consent of the City Administrator and the approval of the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen, may appoint one (1) or more permanent or temporary full-time or part-time clerical assistants. Any such assistants so employed shall not be authorized or permitted to act for or in the name of the City Clerk.
