The Police Department of the City shall be under the jurisdiction and control of the City Manager. The City Manager shall appoint the Chief of Police and such number of officers as shall be approved by the City Council.

The City Manager may appoint and commission reserve Policemen when he/she deems it necessary to preserve the peace and quiet of the City.

Every Policeman shall be prompt in the discharge of his/her duties and shall at all times hold himself/herself in readiness to obey and execute all lawful orders, rules and regulations made or prescribed by the City Manager or Chief of Police.

All Police Officers shall conduct themselves in accord with departmental regulations and the City Personnel Manual. Any officer who shall refuse, neglect or fail to discharge any duty imposed upon him/her by virtue of this Chapter or any other law or ordinance of the City shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be subject to removal and discharge in accordance with the Personnel Manual.
