It is hereby established the Junior Firefighters Auxiliary.
No person shall be eligible for membership in the Junior Firefighters Program in Rochelle Park unless he is more than 16 years of age and less than 18 years of age. All persons shall be required to obtain permission to join the program from their parents or guardians. Such permission shall be in writing and acknowledged by a notary public of the State of New Jersey.
Insurance coverage will be provided to the members of the Junior Firefighters Program pursuant to the self-insurance fund of the Township of Rochelle Park. Coverage shall be limited to the provisions of the insurance endorsement which will be available at the Township Administrator's office.
A. 
The Township Committee of the Township of Rochelle Park authorizes the Rochelle Park Fire Department to establish rules and regulations governing the activities of the junior firefighters. Said rules and regulations shall provide for the training of the prospective members for eventual membership in the Volunteer Fire Department of Rochelle Park, which regulations shall further provide that no junior firefighter shall be required to perform duties which would expose him to the same degree of hazard as a regular member of the Township's Fire Department.
B. 
In addition to the above relating to junior firefighters, the Township of Rochelle Park shall require that the minimum age for the junior program of the firefighters shall be 16 years.
In addition to the authority granted to the Fire Department and its Board of Fire Officers in other sections of this chapter, the Rochelle Park Fire Department shall have the right to:
A. 
Adopt appropriate training guidelines for all firefighters within the Department including, without being limited to the following:
(1) 
Firefighter 1.
(a) 
Vehicle extrication training.
(b) 
Blood-borne pathogen training.
(c) 
Driver's training.
(d) 
Mask fit and respiratory protection review.
B. 
Adopt rules, regulations and requirements for implementation and management of the Junior Firefighter Program.
