Hereafter, it shall not be lawful for horses, mules, asses, cattle, sheep or goats at any time of the year, or any age or description, to run off the premises and outside the enclosure of the owner or keeper of such stock within the corporate limits of the City of Seymour, Missouri.

If any horses, mules, asses, cattle, sheep or goats shall be suffered to run at large contrary to the provisions of Section 205.160, and shall trespass upon the land of any person in the City, or shall consume, destroy, or damage the food or property of any person, whether a resident or temporarily in the City, the owner or keeper of such animals shall be liable for all damages the owner or occupant of the land, or the owner of such other property may sustain by reason of such stock being permitted to run at large. All such damages may be recovered in civil action before the Municipal Judge of the City.

If any horses, mules, asses, cattle, sheep, or goats shall be found running at large contrary to these provisions, it shall be lawful and is hereby declared to be the duty of the Chief of Police to restrain, take up and impound the same forthwith in the City pound, or by a person designated by the Chief of Police.

If the officer impounding said stock as herein provided shall have actual knowledge or notice of the name and address of the owner, actual notice shall be given to the owner of the impoundment of said stock before it is disposed of.

When any horses, mules, asses, cattle, sheep and goats are taken up and impounded under these provisions by the Chief of Police, and the owner of said stock be a non-resident or unknown, it shall be the duty of the Chief of Police to advertise said stock giving a full description of same in some newspaper of general circulation in the City for two (2) consecutive weeks.

If the owner of said stock does not call for and prove ownership of the property together with payment of the required fees, it shall be the duty of the Chief of Police or a person designated by the Chief of Police to dispose of said stock in a humane manner.
