City of Belfast, ME Article IV Schools

Sec. 1 Maine School Administrative District #34 (MSAD 334).

The ownership, management and control of the public schools within the City of Belfast shall continue to be vested in MSAD #34 in accordance with the applicable provisions of law relating to such district.

Sec. 2 Nomination and election of office of Board of Directors.

Nomination, election and term of office of Board of Directors. The nomination and election of Belfast citizens to the Board of Directors of MSAD #34 shall be conducted in accordance with Article V of the City Charter.

Sec. 3 Term of office of Board of Directors.

The term of office of the members of the Board of Directors of MSAD #34 from Belfast shall be as provided by the M.R.S.A. or other provisions of applicable law.

Sec. 4 Vacancies.

When a vacancy occurs among the members of the Board of Directors of MSAD #34 from the City, the City Council, by a majority vote of all its members, shall fill the vacancy by electing a director to serve until the City shall fill the vacancy for the balance, if any, of the unexpired term at the next regular election.

Sec. 5 Recall of a Belfast School Board Director.

The recall of a Belfast member of the Board of Directors of MSAD #34 shall be conducted in accordance with Article VII of this Charter.
