PREAMBLE
The citizens of Pittston City have the privilege, right and
responsibility to participate in all aspects of City government and
have come together with a desire and willingness to improve their
government through the enactment of this Charter.
This Charter shall guide Pittston for years to come and has
addressed the inefficiencies and ineffectiveness in our government
which have arisen over the years.
We, the people of Pittston City, agree to uphold and enforce
the principles embodied in this Charter with the full force of law.

Editor's Note: At the general election held in the City of
Pittston on 11-6-2012, a referendum to adopt the Home Rule Charter
contained in the report, dated 8-27-2012, of the Pittston City Government
Study Commission, prepared in accordance with the Home Rule Charter
and Option Plans Law, was passed by the voters. The Home Rule Charter
was designated as "Ord. No. 2013-1" and became effective 1-2-2013.
