All City elections shall be conducted and held in conformance with the provisions of Chapter 115, RSMo.
A. 
A municipal election for the qualified voters of this City shall be held on the first (1st) Tuesday after the first (1st) Monday in April of each year.
B. 
On the first (1st) Tuesday after the first (1st) Monday in April of 2011 and every four (4) years thereafter, a municipal election of the qualified voters of the City of Trenton shall be held for the purpose of electing a Mayor who shall hold his/her office for a term of four (4) years and until his/her successor is elected and qualified.
C. 
On the first (1st) Tuesday after the first (1st) Monday in April of odd-numbered years, a municipal election of the qualified voters of the City of Trenton shall be held for the purpose of electing one (1) Councilmember from each ward who shall hold his/her office for a term of two (2) years and until his/her successor is elected and qualified.
D. 
On the first (1st) Tuesday after the first (1st) Monday in April of even-numbered years, a municipal election of the qualified voters of the City of Trenton shall be held for the purpose of electing one (1) Councilmember from each ward who shall hold his/her office for a term of two (2) years and until his/her successor is elected and qualified.

Any person who desires to become a candidate for an elective City office at the general City election shall file with the City Clerk, not prior to the hour of 8:00 A.M., on the seventeenth (17th) Tuesday prior to, nor later than 5:00 P.M., on the fourteenth (14th) Tuesday prior to the next City municipal election, a written declaration of his/her intent to become a candidate at said election. The City Clerk shall keep a permanent record of the names of the candidates, the offices for which they seek election, and the date of their filing, and their names shall appear on the ballot in that order.

No person shall be a candidate for municipal office unless such person complies with the provisions of Section 115.306, RSMo., regarding payment of municipal taxes.
The City Clerk shall, on or before the sixteenth (16th) Tuesday prior to any election at which City offices are to be filled by said election, notify the general public of the opening filing date, the office or offices to be filled, the proper place for filing, and the closing filing date of the election. Such notification may be accomplished by legal notice published in at least one (1) newspaper of general circulation in the City.

Each candidate for any City office, at the time of filing a written declaration, shall pay to the office of the City Clerk/Administrator a filing fee for a fee of five dollars ($5.00) which shall be paid into the general revenue fund of the City. Provided however, if a candidate files a sworn affidavit with the City Clerk/Administrator, stating he/she is financially unable to pay the filing fee, the candidate shall not be required to pay the fee.
In City elections, the City Clerk shall notify the County Clerk prior to 5:00 P.M. on the tenth (10th) Tuesday prior to any City election except as noted in Section 115.125.1, RSMo. The notice shall be in writing, shall specify that the City Council is calling the election, the purpose of the election, the date of the election, and shall include a certified copy of the legal notice to be published including the sample ballot. The notice and any other information required by this Section may, with the prior notification to the election authority receiving the notice, be accepted by facsimile transmission prior to 5:00 P.M. on the tenth (10th) Tuesday prior to the election, provided that the original copy of the notice and a certified copy of the legal notice to be published shall be received in the office of the election authority within three (3) business days from the date of the facsimile transmission.

The name of candidates shall appear on the ballot in the order in which they have filed, and if at the time filings for an election are first open, more than one (1) candidate appears at the office of the City Clerk/Administrator, the order of appearance of the names of those candidates shall be determined at the next regular meeting of the City Councilmembers by drawing the names of the candidates, or in such other impartial manner as determined by the City Council.

The City is hereby divided into four (4) Wards, which shall be named and called the First Ward, Second Ward, Third Ward and Fourth Ward.

The boundaries of the First Ward shall be as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the west City limits line of the City of Trenton, Missouri, and West 13th Street and proceeding easterly along the centerline of West 13th Street to the intersection of West Lawn Street; thence south along the centerline of the intersection of West 10th Street; thence proceeding in a easterly direction along the centerline of West 10th Street to the intersection of Haliburton Street; thence south along the centerline of Haliburton Street to the intersection of West 10th street; thence easterly along the centerline of West 10th to the Union Pacific right-of-way to the southern City limit line; thence west along said City limit line to the place of beginning.

The boundaries of the Second Ward shall be as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the west City limits line of the City of Trenton, Missouri, and West 13th Street and Summit Street; proceeding easterly along the centerline to Lawn Street; proceeding south along the centerline of Lawn Street to West 10th Street; thence an easterly direction along the centerline to Haliburton Street; south along the centerline of Haliburton Street to West 10th Street; proceeding easterly along the centerline of the Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way; thence north to 16th Street; thence easterly along the centerline to Pleasant Plain Street; thence north to the north City limits of the City of Trenton, Missouri; proceeding west to the Union Pacifica Railroad right-of-way; proceeding south of line that would extend 28th Street to Pauper Grade Road; thence south to an extension of 23rd Street west to the west City limits of the City of Trenton proceeding to the Crowder Street; thence to the point of beginning.

The boundaries of the Third Ward shall be as follows:
Beginning at the point where the Northern City limits line intersects Pleasant Plain Road; thence east along said north City limit line to the intersection of the east City limit line; thence south along east City limit line to the intersection with Industrial Drive extended and where the City limit line turns east; thence east along the City limit line to the east right-of-way of the Missouri Highway 65; thence south along the east right-of-way of U.S Highway 65 to the intersection with the north right-of-way of Missouri 6; thence west along the north right-of way of Missouri Highway 6 to the west right-of way of the Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way; thence north to 16th Street; thence easterly along the centerline of 16th Street to Pleasant Plain Road; proceeding north along the centerline of Pleasant Plain Road to the north City limits of the City of Trenton, Missouri, to the point of beginning.

The boundaries of the Fourth Ward shall be as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the right-of-way line of the Union Pacific Railroad and the southeast corner of the City limits of the City of Trenton, Missouri; thence north along the west right-of way of the said railroad to the intersection of 9th Street; thence east along the centerline of 9th Street to the west right-of-way of U.S. 65; proceeding north along the west right-of-way of U.S. Highway 65 to the north City limits of said City; proceeding east to the eastern City limits; thence south along the west City limits line to the intersection of said City limits and Highway Y; thence south to the southeast City limits line; thence west along the City limits line to the point of beginning.
