The City of Smithville has adopted
various portions of the International Code Council family of Building
Codes. The following codes were reviewed and various changes made
to insure compatibility with various existing code provisions not
affected by the adoption of this Article. Where a conflict exists
between these codes and any existing or future versions of these codes,
it is the intent of the City of Smithville that the more restrictive
provision shall control. If a provision of these codes makes a specific
reference to any policy, procedure, board, person or official not
otherwise defined therein, these codes shall be interpreted so that
the intent of the code is met by substituting the existing equivalent
item from the existing codes.

A certain document, three (3) copies of which are on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Smithville, being marked and designated as the International Building Code, 2018 edition, including Appendix Chapters B, C, E, F, G, H, I, and J, as published by the International Code Council, be and is hereby adopted as the Building Code of the City of Smithville, in the State of Missouri, for regulating and governing the conditions and maintenance of all property, buildings and structures; by providing the standards for supplied utilities and facilities and other physical things and conditions essential to ensure that structures are safe, sanitary and fit for occupation and use; and the condemnation of buildings and structures unfit for human occupancy and use and the demolition of such structures as herein provided; providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of said Building Code on file in the office of the City Clerk are hereby referred to, adopted, and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this Section, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes, if any, prescribed in Section 500.025.

A.
The following Sections of the 2018 International
Building Code are hereby revised:
1.
Section 101.1 insert City of Smithville,
Missouri, in place of [Insert Name of Jurisdiction].
2.
Section 105.1.1 and 105.1.2 are deleted.
3.
Section 105.2(2) and (6), delete.
4.
Section 107.1 delete a portion of the paragraph
limited to the following statement "where required by the statutes
of the jurisdiction in which the project is to be constructed."
5.
Section 110.3.7 shall be amended to include
"Where required by the Building Official" at the beginning of the
Section.
6.
Section 113 delete the entire provision
and replace with the following:
All appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by the Building Official relative to the application of this code, all appeals shall be heard and governed by the provisions of Section 400.630 et seq., of this Code.
7.
Section 1612.3 insert City of Smithville,
Missouri, in place of [Insert Name of Jurisdiction] and August 3,
2015, in place of [Insert Date of Issuance].
