At the first meeting of the Board of Aldermen after the annual
general election, the Mayor shall, with the approval of the Board
of Aldermen, appoint a Street Committee, which shall be composed of
one (1) Alderman from each ward, one of whom shall be designated by
the Mayor as Chair of the Committee. The Street Committee shall serve
as an advisory body to the Board of Aldermen regarding the maintenance
and improvement of streets, alleys, crossings, and sidewalks. The
Board of Aldermen may, in its discretion, assign tasks to the Street
Committee for advisory or investigatory purposes. The Street Committee
may make recommendations to the Board of Aldermen regarding needing
maintenance or improvements, or budgetary recommendations, consistent
with this Section. The Street Committee shall not have the ability
to make financial commitments on behalf of the City.
