When access to or within a structure or an area is unduly difficult because of secured openings or where immediate access is necessary for life saving or firefighting purposes, the Fire Chief of the Borough of Kenhorst may require a key box to be installed in an accessible location on the structure. The key box shall be a type approved by the Fire Chief and shall contain keys to gain necessary access as required by the Fire Chief.
The key box hereinbefore referred shall contain:
A. 
Keys to locked points of ingress whether on the interior or exterior of such building.
B. 
Keys to locked mechanical equipment rooms.
C. 
Keys to locked electrical rooms.
D. 
Keys to elevator controls.
E. 
Keys to other areas as directed by the Fire Chief.
This article shall not apply to any residential units.
Any person or persons violating any of the provisions of this article shall be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, Article I, Enforcement; General Penalty, of this Code.

As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
Any audible or visible signal or intelligence indicating existence of a supposed fire or emergency requiring both response and emergency action on the part of the firefighting service; and additionally, the alarm or devices by which fire and emergency signals are received.
FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM
An engineered system utilizing carbon dioxide, foam, wet or dry chemical, a halogenated extinguishing agent or an automatic sprinkler system to detect automatically and suppress a fire through fixed piping and nozzles.
NONRESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE
Any structure which is utilized for purposes other than a single-family dwelling.
Where the unique physical characteristics and/or use(s) of a nonresidential structure located within the Borough of Kenhorst create a greater degree of danger from fire and explosion than would otherwise exist absent the unique physical characteristics and/or use(s), the Fire Chief and/or Fire Marshal of the Borough of Kenhorst may require the installation of fire suppression system(s) and/or fire alarm system(s).

A. 
The Fire Chief and/or Fire Marshal of the Borough of Kenhorst shall require the installation of said fire suppression system(s) and/or fire alarm system(s) where said installation is necessary to protect the health and safety of the residents and property located within the Borough of Kenhorst against the dangers from fire and explosion.
B. 
The owner or owners of a structure subject to the provisions of this section shall, on an annual basis, on or before March 1, file with the Borough a certificate by a qualified inspector that the fire suppression and/or alarm system are operable for the purpose for which it was installed.
This article shall only apply to nonresidential structures located within the Borough of Kenhorst.
Any person or persons violating any of the provisions of this article shall be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, Article I, Enforcement; General Penalty, of this Code.
