There is hereby created within the Borough of Buena a position known as "Building Maintenance Worker/Groundskeeper" for the purpose of performing janitorial services in the municipal buildings in the Borough of Buena and for the further purpose of maintaining the grounds around the municipal buildings, as well as maintaining the grounds, recreational facilities and ball fields in the Borough of Buena Municipal Park. Appointment to this position shall be made by the Mayor of the Borough of Buena with the consent of the Council, and the person so appointed shall serve a probationary period until he is qualified under civil service, at which time he shall continue to serve as a full-time municipal employee pursuant to civil service regulations for as long as he shall properly perform his duties.
The person appointed as Building Maintenance Worker/Groundskeeper shall perform such janitorial services and custodial duties in the municipal buildings and such maintenance services and groundskeeping duties on the grounds surrounding said municipal buildings, as well as on the recreational facilities and ball field in the municipal park in the Borough of Buena, as may be determined by the Mayor and Council, subject to such job specifications as may be outlined by the Department of Personnel. Such position shall be full-time, and the person filling such position shall be subject to the supervision of the committee designated by the Mayor and Council to oversee the Borough's buildings and grounds. Such committee shall determine the hours of work and the manner in which the employee appointed to this position shall divide his time between the maintenance of municipal buildings and the maintenance and caretaking of the Borough's recreational facilities, ball fields and grounds. He shall work such hours or such days in each week as may be determined by the committee designated by the Council to supervise his work.
The person appointed to the position of Building Maintenance Worker/Groundskeeper shall be paid on an hourly basis within the salary range of $6 to $10 per hour, the exact hourly rate to be determined by resolution of the Borough Council, which amount may be changed from time to time. The person appointed to this position shall be paid according to the number of hours which he actually works during each week.
