There is hereby established the position of Code Enforcement Officer of the Borough of Buena. Said position is hereby established as a classified position subject to the New Jersey Department of Personnel Job Specification 01285. He or she shall receive such compensation as set forth in the Salary Ordinance.[1]

It shall be the responsibility of the Code Enforcement Officer to enforce the ordinances as set forth in the Code of the Borough of Buena, including but not limited to the following:
A. 
To investigate the dwelling conditions in the Borough of Buena in order to determine which dwellings therein are unfit for human habitation;
B. 
To administer oaths and affirmations, examine witnesses and receive evidence;
C. 
To enter upon premises for the purpose of making examination, provided that such entries shall be made in such a manner as to cause the least possible inconvenience to the persons in possession;
D. 
To enforce Ordinance No. 54 (Article I of Buena Code Chapter 131) and Ordinance No. 313 (Article II of Buena Code Chapter 131);
E. 
To enforce Ordinance No. 348 (Buena Code Chapter 152);
F. 
To make investigations, serve violation notices, make and process complaints for ordinance violations and make court appearances, whether municipal or otherwise, as necessary in connection with his/her enforcement duties;
G. 
Such other duties set forth in Job Specification 01284 of the New Jersey Department of Personnel; and
H. 
Such other duties as directed by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
The Code Enforcement Officer shall render a written report monthly to the Mayor and Borough Council of his or her findings and actions taken in the performance of duties.
Working hours and schedule of the Code Enforcement Officer shall be fixed and supervised by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
