Editor’s Note: While this ordinance was adopted by the
City Council on said date, it was vetoed by the Mayor and was passed
notwithstanding the veto by the Mayor on 12-19-2013.
A.
All stores, commercial and retail establishments are strongly encouraged
to place signage in all places of public accommodation, clearly and
conspicuously posted, stating the following: "It is unlawful and a
violation of the State Criminal Code of New Jersey to obstruct safe
passage by commission of the following petty disorderly offenses:
N.J.S.A. 2C:33-7 (Obstruction); N.J.S.A. 2C:33-4 (Harassment); and
N.J.S.A. 2C:18-3 (Criminal Defiant Trespass)."
Persons found to be in violation of the provisions of this article
shall be subject to the following:
The above signage shall be provided by the City Clerk's
office to all current business license holders. Replacement signage
shall be given at a cost of $5 per sign.
If any sentence, paragraph or section of this article of the
Code of the City of Trenton, or the application thereof to any persons
or circumstances shall be judged by a court of competent jurisdiction
to be invalid, or if by legislative action any sentence, paragraph
or section of this article shall lose its force and effect, such judgment
or action shall not affect, impair or void the remainder of this article.
This article shall become effective 60 days after final passage
by Council.
The City Clerk is to ensure that all current business license
holders are provided with a written copy of this article prior to
the effective date.
