Section 811.010 Inattention. [1]

Every driver of a motor vehicle shall exercise the highest degree of care at all times, while operating a motor vehicle, to keep sufficient lookout for other persons and vehicles.

Section 811.020 Careless and Imprudent Driving.

Persons operating a motor vehicle in the City of Camdenton shall not drive such vehicles in a careless or imprudent manner or at a rate of speed so as to endanger the property of another or the life or limb of any person.

Section 811.030 Failure to Drive Within Single Lane.

Where traffic lanes have been marked upon any street or highway, it shall be unlawful for the operator of a vehicle to fail or refuse to keep such vehicle within the boundaries of any such lane, except when lawfully passing another vehicle or when making a lawful turning movement.

Section 811.040 Following Too Closely.

The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicles and the traffic upon and the condition of the highway.

Section 811.050 Excessive Acceleration.

No person shall operate a motor vehicle in the City at a rate of acceleration greater than is reasonably necessary to safely enter the flow of traffic or obtain the maximum speed limit. Tire friction marks or squealing of tires shall be evidence of excessive acceleration.

Section 811.060 Exhausts and Compression Release Engine Braking Systems Prohibited.

The purpose of this Section is to make it unlawful for vehicles equipped with compression-release-type braking systems to use such braking systems or devices upon any public streets, roads or highways within the limits of the City for the peace, health, and comfort of the citizens of Camdenton and the public.
For the purposes of this Section, "compression-release-type braking system" shall mean any devices equipped on certain commercial vehicles, including, but not limited to, tractors, semi-trucks, motor carriers and buses that utilize engine compression release or engine retarders as a means of slowing or braking the speed of the vehicle in lieu of applying the clutch or brakes.
Every driver of any vehicle who shall cause his or her vehicle to brake or slow by any method which increases the noise emission levels of the engine, such as, but not limited to, engine compression release or engine retarder in lieu of applying the clutch or brakes upon any public streets, roads or highways within the limits of the City of Camdenton, upon conviction, shall be found in violation of this Section.
