[HISTORY: Article I adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Greenville (now Village Board of the Village of Greenville) as indicated in article history. Subsequent articles adopted by the Village Board of the Village of Greenville as indicated in article histories. Amendments noted where applicable.]

The Village Board of Greenville hereby adopts the following rules for all public parks.
Parks and rental facilities are open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
A. 
This rule does not apply to paved recreational trails, which may be used any time.
B. 
Permitted activities at the Lions Park Large Pavilion may occupy the facility until 11:00 p.m.
Permits are required for the following activities:
A. 
Exclusive use of any park, trail, facility, play area or special use area.
B. 
All public meetings, assemblies, entertainments or tournaments held on park property.
C. 
Geocaching is allowed with permission from the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department.

No person shall:
A. 
Operate or park any motorized vehicle in a park during closed hours.
B. 
Operate or park any motorized vehicle on turf grass.
C. 
Operate a snowmobile, motorized scooter or mini-bike within any park.
D. 
Operate any vehicle faster than 10 mph in any park unless otherwise posted.

A. 
No person shall operate or park a motorized vehicle, including but not limited to automobiles, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, motorized scooters or mini-bikes on any Village trail.
B. 
Electric assist bikes, as defined by Wisconsin State Statute, electric scooters and other electric-motor-powered toys are not considered motorized vehicles and their use is permitted on Village trails provided they are operated within the parameters set for in these rules.
C. 
No person shall travel faster than 15 mph on any Village trail.
D. 
Wheeled modes of transportation shall yield to pedestrians and announce their presence on approach.

A. 
No person shall bring animals onto park property, with the exception of leashed dogs on roads, paved trails, and chipped or gravel paths. Dogs are not allowed on playgrounds, athletic fields, picnic areas, lawns or in park shelters.
B. 
All persons shall secure their dog on a leash six feet or shorter in length and maintain their dog under control, meaning connected to a leash held by a person at all times.[1]

C. 
Dogs must display current rabies and registration tags.
D. 
All dog waste must be immediately picked up and disposed of.
E. 
The Parks and Forestry Department may authorize animals onto park property for special events.
F. 
This section shall not apply to certified guide dogs that are under control by the use of harness or other restraint and are accompanying blind, deaf or mobility-impaired persons, as provided under Wis. Stats. § 174.056.[2]

No person shall:
A. 
Remove benches, seats, tables or other park equipment from any park.
B. 
Kill, injure or disturb or attempt to injure or disturb waterfowl, birds or animals, wild or domestic, within any park, except as permitted by the Park Commission.
C. 
Remove, cut down, trample, dig out or injure any flowers, fruit, trees, shrubs, seeds, turf, soil or objects of archeological interest, wild or cultivated, from any park property.
D. 
Injure, deface, break, write upon or damage any building, monument, structure, apparatus, bench, table, official notice, sign or other property within any park.
No person shall start, tend or maintain a fire except in personal or Village-provided grills. Personal grills shall be used only in designated picnic areas and in such a manner as not to endanger lawns, vegetation or buildings. Unburned fuel and ashes shall be disposed of in such a manner as to prevent fire or damage to park property.
No person shall:
A. 
Discharge any missile from any firearm, sling shot, bow and arrow, paintball, air gun or other weapon within any park except as permitted by the Park Commission for animal control or demonstration purposes. Archery is permitted in the designated archery range at Lions Park.
B. 
Carry any firearm, handgun or any other weapon in any park except as permitted under Wisconsin State Statutes. The terms "firearm," "handgun" and "weapon" shall be given their ordinary and common meanings consistent with, but not limited to, the definitions as provided under § 175.60, Wisconsin State Statutes.
No person shall hunt or trap within any Village park except as permitted by the Park Commission for animal control purposes.
No person shall litter, dump or deposit any rubbish, refuse, earth or other material in any park.
Radios, loudspeakers or other sound devices shall be operated at a volume as not to disturb other park users or neighboring property owners. Said sound devices shall not be audible from a distance greater than 50 feet.
No person shall post, paste, fasten, paint, attach or install any placard, bill, notice, sign or advertising matter upon any structure or park property except as authorized by the Department of Administration.
No person shall operate a snowmobile in any Village park or trail except as authorized by the Park Commission.
All glass beverage containers are prohibited in the parks.
Camping is not permitted in any park.
No person shall hit any type of golf ball in or into any park.
No person or group shall vend, sell or offer for sale any food, beverage or other commodity or article within any park to the public without authorization from the Park Commission. Any individual or group who obtains such authorization shall be personally responsible for obtaining all required permits.
No person shall swim or wade within any park, including, but not limited to, fountains, stormwater facilities, ponds or streams.
No person shall use any indecent, vile, profane or obscene language or conduct themselves in an indecent, lewd, lascivious or obscene manner within any Village park.

Some rules may be waived for sanctioned events with approval of the Park Commission. Village employees are exempt from rules while performing official duties.

The forfeiture amounts for violations of this subsection shall be set from time to time by ordinance in the Fine and Forfeiture Schedule of the Village of Greenville[1] for offenses.
