The name of the Board described in this division is the Fredericksburg Fire Prevention Appeals Board.

The purposes and duties for which the Fire Prevention Appeals Board has been established are as follows:
A. 
The Board shall meet at least once each calendar year.
B. 
Special meetings may be held upon the call of the chair or upon written request of any two members.
C. 
As necessary, the Board shall hold hearings and render decisions on appeals of determinations made by the Fire Chief or Fire Marshal disapproving or granting applications or in interpreting portions of Chapter 42.
D. 
The hearings of the Board shall be preceded by a written notice to all interested parties setting forth a reasonable time and place.
E. 
All members shall be duly notified of the time and place of any regular or special meeting or of any hearing a reasonable time in advance of such meeting or hearing.
F. 
Three members of the Board shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. The Board shall keep a complete and accurate record of the proceedings at all of its meetings and hearings, a copy of which shall be kept on file in the office of the Chief of the Fire Department and open for public inspection.
G. 
The Board shall have such other powers and shall execute such duties as are set forth in Chapter 42.

A. 
The Building Code Appeals Board shall serve as the Fire Prevention Appeals Board.
B. 
Preference shall be given to City residents.

C. 
Members of the Board shall serve without compensation.
D. 
Vacancies other than by expiration of term shall be filled by the City Council by appointment for the unexpired term.
