A.ย 
The words and phrases used in this chapter shall, for the purpose of this chapter, have the meaning respectively ascribed to them by Article I of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York.
B.ย 
The following words and phrases which are not defined by Article I of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section for the purposes of this chapter:
CURB LINE
The prolongation of the lateral line of a curb or, in the absence of a curb, the lateral boundary line of the roadway.
HOLIDAYS
Includes such days designated as public holidays as provided in ยงย 24 of the General Construction Law.
OFFICIAL TIME STANDARD
The time standard which is in current use in this state whenever certain hours are named herein or on traffic control devices.
PUBLIC PARKING LOT
A plot or parcel of land or building owned and/or leased by the Village, not including highways, upon or within which the parking of vehicles is regulated by signs.
SIDEWALK
That portion of a street between the curblines, or the lateral lines of a street, and the adjacent property lines, intended for the use of pedestrians.
STREET
The entire width between the boundary lines of every way publicly or privately maintained when any part thereof is open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular traffic, and includes roads, avenues and highways, etc.
TRUCK
Any motor vehicle designed, used or maintained primarily for the transportation of property, and having a maximum gross weight in excess of five tons.
The Road Commissioner shall direct the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices when and as required under the provisions of this chapter to make effective the provisions of this chapter and shall install and maintain such additional traffic control devices as the Old Brookville Police Department may deem necessary to regulate, warn or guide traffic under the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York subject to the provisions of Article 44 of that law.
