[Adopted 3-9-1970 by Ord. No. 10-1970 (Ch. 25 of the 1980 City Code)]
Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:12-6, the Board of Education of the City is hereby enlarged from a board consisting of five members to a board consisting of seven members. The seven members shall be appointed by the Mayor as provided by law.
A. 
The members of the Board of Education shall be appointed during the time periods prescribed pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:12-8.[1]

B. 
Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:12-9, the terms shall be staggered so that three members shall be appointed in the first year and two members shall be appointed in each of the two following years of each three-year period.
The Board of Education shall exercise all the powers and shall have jurisdiction as provided by the laws of New Jersey.
