A. 
Five (5) regular workdays of eight (8) hours each from Monday through Friday are considered as a regular workweek for all employees except as follows:
1. 
Police Department personnel whose hours of work are determined by the Police Chief in order to maintain twenty-four (24) hour per day staffing coverage of patrol and dispatch capabilities.
2. 
Dispatch employees who work and are in standby capacity in their home.
3. 
Any other employee or group of employees who are assigned to a different schedule in order to provide necessary services to the citizens of Bowling Green as determined by the Board of Aldermen and Mayor, City Administrator or department head.

The normal workday will be from 8:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M., unless employees are assigned to shift work or unless regular work hours are determined by a specific department in order to better meet the needs of the public being served by the City employees.

Employees are generally allowed thirty (30) minutes for lunch, unless the department schedule allows a lesser time. Lunch time is unpaid time.

Employees are allowed two (2) paid fifteen (15) minute breaks, one (1) in the morning and one (1) in the afternoon. Departmental rules may be adopted to regulate time and place of such breaks, particularly as they apply to employees working out of the office.

If training is required by the City, it is considered paid work time. Travel time for non-exempt employees to and from authorized training outside of the City is considered compensable time if the travel is done outside of the regular workday or week. No compensation will be paid to employees by the City if attendance at training programs is not required by the City.

Regular and punctual attendance at work is required of all employees. Employees who fail to observe attendance requirements and procedures for recording and reporting of attendance shall be subject to disciplinary action.
