An employee may resign from the service of the City by submitting a resignation in writing to the City Administrator, Mayor and/or the employee's immediate supervisor. Notices of greater than ten (10) working days prior to the employee's final designated working day may be shortened to ten (10) working days at the discretion of the City Administrator. The employee may be paid in lieu of all or part of the ten (10) working days' notice at the discretion of the City Administrator.

All regular employees are eligible for retirement benefits at age and length of service requirements specified by the retirement plan in which they are enrolled. Application for retirement shall be in the same manner as set forth in Section 130.860.

Employees may be discharged for cause or without prejudice due to lack of funds or curtailment of work. The City will provide, at its option, two (2) weeks' notice or equivalent compensation to persons discharged. The discharge procedures set forth in Sections 130.800 and 130.810 should be followed.

The City may terminate from employment any employee if the position or project to which said employee has been assigned is eliminated or if in the opinion of the Board of Aldermen funds are not available to pay the salary.

All employees separating from the municipal service for any reason shall, prior to separation, return all City-owned property and equipment issued to the employee. Failure to do so will result in the withholding of all pay and benefits otherwise due the employee.
