A. 
The Mayor, with the consent and approval of the majority of the members of the Board of Alderpersons, shall have power to appoint a Prosecuting Attorney who shall be a duly licensed attorney at law in this State, who shall hold his/her office for one (1) year or until his/her successor is appointed and qualified, unless sooner removed from office by the Board of Alderpersons.
B. 
Said Prosecuting Attorney shall receive compensation as designated by ordinance as compensation for his/her services for the prosecution for the violation of ordinances of said City in the Municipal Court thereof, provided however, in the event that it is necessary for him/her to represent the City in the Circuit Court or in other courts, he/she shall, in addition, be paid a reasonable fee for his/her services, which shall be approved by the Board of Alderpersons.
