The National Electrical Code, 2017 Edition, as adopted by the National Fire and Protection Association, Inc., is hereby adopted and shall hereafter be known as the Electrical Code of the City of Maryville, Missouri. Said code is adopted in its entirety except as hereinafter modified, deleted or amended and shall be incorporated as if fully set out herein.

A. 
For the purposes of this Chapter, there is hereby established a Central Business District which shall be that area of the City of Maryville which is bounded on the north by Sixth Street, bounded on the west by Fillmore Street, bounded on the south by First Street and bounded on the east by Vine Street.
B. 
All of the electrical wiring installed within the Central Business District, except for wiring installed in a single-family dwelling, shall comply with one (1) of the following:
1. 
The electrical wiring shall be installed in a metal raceway;
2. 
The electrical wiring shall be installed in a non-metallic raceway;
3. 
The electrical wiring shall be installed with type M-I cable; or
4. 
The electrical wiring shall be installed with type M-C cable.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this Chapter or any portion of the Code adopted in this Chapter shall be deemed guilty of an ordinance violation and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in an amount not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00) or be imprisoned in the City or County Jail for a period of not exceeding ninety (90) days, or both such fine and imprisonment. Each day such violation is committed or permitted to continue shall constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable as such hereunder.
