This chapter is adopted pursuant to and in accordance with the
provisions of Act No. 246 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1945 (MCLA
§ 41.181 et seq.), as amended.
The purpose of this chapter is to apprise the Village of the
type, nature and location of businesses within the Village, and to
identify the owners and/or responsible parties to be contacted in
the case of police and/or fire emergencies.
The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter,
shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where
the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
A person seeking to be registered as required by this chapter.
All commercial and industrial enterprises, including all
service establishments and offices, and excluding all legal home occupations.
A person who has registered pursuant to the provisions of
this chapter.

Every business located within the Village five days prior to commencement
of operations shall register the existence of such business with the
Village Clerk, and shall provide such information as is required by
an application for registration approved by the Village Council. The
period of registration shall be for one year and shall be renewed
by a registrant every year thereafter on such renewal forms as are
provided by the Village.

It shall be unlawful for any applicant to knowingly submit false
or misleading information in connection with an application for registration
or renewal under the provisions of this section.
The Village Council by resolution may establish fees payable
by an applicant and/or registrant in an amount sufficient to defray
the costs of administration of this chapter.

Any person, firm, corporation, partnership or other entity who violates any of the provisions of this chapter shall be responsible for a municipal civil infraction, and shall be subject to the provisions of Chapter 59, Municipal Civil Infractions, of the Code of the Village of New Haven.

Each day on which any violation of this chapter occurs or continues,
constitutes a separate offense subject to separate penalties.
