The City of Pevely imposes a hotel-motel sales tax on the charges for all overnight sleeping rooms paid for by transient guests of hotels and motels within the City limits of the City of Pevely, Missouri, in the amount of five percent (5%) per overnight; said tax revenue is to be used to fund and promote recreational facilities, activities, community events and tourism within the City of Pevely.

Editor's Note: This ordinance authorized the placement of the hotel-motel tax on the ballot of 4-2-2013. At said election, the tax was approved by a majority of the voters.

A. 
A Tourism Commission is hereby established to consist of five (5) members to be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen. Of these five (5) members, one (1) will be a representative of the hotel and motel industry; two (2) shall be active in the tourism industry; and the remaining members will be members of local general business interests in the City of Pevely. One (1) member of the Board of Aldermen shall serve as a liaison in a non-voting capacity.
B. 
All members of the Tourism Commission shall be residents of the County of Jefferson, Missouri.
C. 
Members of the Tourism Commission shall be appointed for terms of three (3) years, except, of the members first appointed, one (1) shall be appointed for a term of one (1) year; two (2) shall be appointed for terms of two (2) years; and two (2) shall be appointed for terms of three (3) years. Members of the Commission may serve no more than two (2) consecutive terms.
D. 
Members of the Tourism Commission will serve without compensation.
