The Board of Supervisors hereby is authorized to enter into an intergovernmental cooperation agreement for a limited scope of code enforcement services for Washington Township, Westmoreland County, a copy of which Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A" and which shall be referred to herein as the "agreement."[1]

The agreement sets forth the terms pursuant to which the Allegheny Township Board of Supervisors and Washington Township Board of Supervisors shall work together to provide code enforcement services administered by Allegheny Township. The term of the agreement shall commence as of the date of the agreement and shall continue for 12 months thereafter with automatic renewals of one-year periods thereafter unless either party gives the other six months' written notice of its intent to terminate. The Washington Township Board of Supervisors will be paying Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, directly for services rendered and no financing of the agreement shall be required.
No new organizational structure is necessary to implement the agreement.
In accordance with the agreement, Washington Township will provide the needed enforcement tools in order for Allegheny Township personnel to perform such services and will include office supplies and access to a computer for various code enforcement activities.
The agreement will require appointment of the Code Officer as the official code officer of Washington Township, therefore requiring said official to be included in the public officials liability policy held by Washington Township for decisions and actions taking place within Washington Township. No other policies of group insurance and employee benefits will be required by Washington Township. Rather, the employees involved in this agreement shall be insured by their respective employers, namely Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County.
