A. 
Home occupations shall be permitted in specific zoning districts. The provisions specified for home occupations within this manual are intended to be only a summary of the requirements specified in the adopted zoning regulations for the City of Mount Vernon. If there are any questions regarding the following provisions, the applicable zoning regulations should be consulted.
B. 
In order to request a home occupation permit:
1. 
The applicant shall first meet with the Zoning Administrator to receive a complete explanation of the home occupation definitions and zoning requirements and to discuss the restrictions and limitations relating to the home occupations.
2. 
The applicant shall submit a completed home occupation permit application form and pay the appropriate application fee as established by the Board of Aldermen.
3. 
The Zoning Administrator shall review the submitted application with respect to the restrictions and limitations specified for home occupations in the zoning regulations in order to determine if the proposed home occupation will comply with said restrictions and limitations.
4. 
If the Zoning Administrator determines that the home occupation will comply with the restrictions and limitations specified by the zoning regulations, a home occupation permit shall be issued. Issuance of a home occupation permit shall be subject to continued compliance with the restrictions and limitations for home occupations specified in the zoning regulations. Non-compliance with any restriction and limitation shall cause the home occupation permit to automatically become null and void.
5. 
Standard Of Review. Approval or denial of a home occupation permit shall be based on the adopted standards in the City of Mount Vernon, Missouri, zoning regulation.
