It is the intent of the Board of Trustees of the Village of New Hempstead that, with the adoption of this article, the enforcement of all local laws of the Village will be enhanced by authorizing the Police Department of the Town of Ramapo to enforce the laws, in addition to the stated Village officers and employees currently having jurisdiction.
The Police Department of the Town of Ramapo is hereby authorized to enforce all local laws of the Village of New Hempstead heretofore or hereafter adopted, to issue appearance tickets therefor and to take such other action of enforcement as may be stated in each respective local law.
Wherever, in any local law heretofore or hereafter adopted by the Village of New Hempstead reference is made to the "Code Enforcement Officer of the Village of New Hempstead," it shall mean the Code Inspector of the Village of New Hempstead.

There is hereby established a governmental agency to be known as the "Code Enforcement Agency of the Village of New Hempstead."
Such Agency shall have all of the powers and authority as provided by law and be the enforcement agency for all local laws of the Village of New Hempstead, including the vehicle and traffic law.[1]

The Mayor shall be the chief administrative officer of such Agency.
The employees of such Agency shall be the Code Inspectors of the Village of New Hempstead.
This article shall in no way impair or restrict the power, duty and authority of the Town of Ramapo Police Department with respect to enforcement of any laws within the Village of New Hempstead.
