A.
Permit required. No electric wiring or other equipment shall be installed,
altered or repaired without first securing a permit therefor from
the Building Inspector, except that no permit will be required if
total cost, exclusive of fixtures, is under $25. This provision shall
not be construed as requiring a permit for equipment or appliances
that merely require "plug in" to be connected with receptacle. The
application for such permit shall state clearly the work planned,
alterations to be made and equipment and material to be used. All
amendments to such plan must be submitted to and approved by the Building
Inspector. All work shall conform to the plan as approved. If the
work is started before the permit is issued, the permit fee will be
twice the amount of the regular fee or an amount set by the Common
Council.[1]
B.
Application for permit. Before the Building Inspector shall issue
a permit he shall approve the application so filed with him and issue
to the applicant a statement showing the fees to be paid for such
permit, which statement shall be filed with the City Clerk-Treasurer,
and the fees therein indicated shall be paid to the City Clerk-Treasurer
who shall issue a receipt therefor. Upon presentation to the Inspector
of the receipt of the City Clerk-Treasurer showing payment of all
legal fees, a permit shall be issued for the work set forth in the
application.
C.
To whom issued. Such permits shall be issued only to licensed electrical
contractors or to a property owner who is to personally perform the
work on existing premises currently occupied exclusively as residence
for himself and his immediate family. Such permits shall not be transferable.
Electrical permit fees are established from time to time by
the Common Council. The current fee schedule is on file at the office
of the City Clerk-Treasurer.
All electrical work shall be performed in conformity with the
most recent edition of the National Fire Protection Association National
Electrical Code and existing modifications of the same by the State
of Wisconsin Electrical Code, Volume 2, with the exception of the
following:
A.
Installation in fire limits.
