Friendship Hose Company No. 1 of Spring Grove, organized and
existing in the Borough of Spring Grove, York County, Pennsylvania,
is hereby designated as the officially recognized fire company for
the Borough.
A.Â
The fire company authorized by the Borough is hereby authorized to
provide such services to the Borough as may be necessary for the protection
of property and persons situated therein, which include, by way of
example and not limitation, the extinguishment and prevention of the
loss of life and property from fire, automobile accidents, medical
emergencies, hazardous materials incidents and other situations in
which the persons or property in the Borough is endangered.

The fire company may also provide nonemergency and public service
functions, such as, again by way of example not limitation, removing
water from property after storms, assisting in the removal, abatement
and prevention of damage or injury to persons or property, whether
through natural or man-made causes.
C.Â
The fire company may also conduct and participate in such training
activities and drills, either within or outside the Borough, as may
be deemed necessary by the officers of the fire company to maintain
proficiency in providing service.
D.Â
The fire company may also respond to calls and provide services to
municipalities other than Spring Grove Borough.
In addition to actually participating in the activities of the
fire company as authorized above or in going to and coming from any
activity, the members of the fire company recognized by the Borough
are also authorized to do the following:
A.Â
Engage in any type drill, training, ceremony, practice, test or parade
when duly and properly called for and authorized by the fire company.
B.Â
Engage in such fund-raising activities as are permitted by law, when
duly and properly authorized by the fire company.
C.Â
Engage in the performance of any other duty or activity duly and
properly authorized by the fire company.
The purpose of this article is to recognize that the fire company's
acts which are classified as public fire-fighting duties are done
on behalf of the Borough, and to state additional authorized activities
for firefighters for workman's compensation purposes.
