[Adopted as Ch. XI, § 7, of the 1973 Bylaws]
No new street shall be accepted by the Town unless the owners of the land over which the street is laid convey the fee in the said land to the Town or the Town follows the provisions of MGL c. 82, §§ 21 through 24. (1973)

Before the Town can accept a way as a public way, a plan indicating the bounds of the said way and showing the location of stone, granite or cement markers placed in the ground to mark the bounds must be filed in the office of the Town Clerk at least 14 days before the Town Meeting at which the acceptance of the said street is to be considered. Before the acceptance of a way may be considered by a Town Meeting, the Select Board must make a recommendation either for or against it after a public hearing held at least seven days before the date of the Town Meeting at which the acceptance is to be considered. The Select Board shall give written notice of the said public hearing to the owners of all land abutting the said public way and shall publish the same in a newspaper having a general circulation in the Town at least seven days before the said public hearing. Whenever the Select Board shall deem it necessary, the owners of the land on which the street is laid out shall provide all necessary easements to the Town for the purpose of taking care of the drainage of surface water from the said street, as the Select Board may require.
