Town of Pine Plains, NY Article I Stop and Yield Intersections

§ 251-1 Stop intersections.

All vehicles, motor and otherwise, shall come to a full stop on the following streets before entering the intersecting street as designated:

§ 251-2 Yield intersections.

The driver of a vehicle approaching a yield sign on the streets hereafter designated shall in obedience to such signs slow down to a speed reasonable for existing conditions, or shall stop if necessary at either a stop line or at a point nearest the intersection formed by the street and the intersecting street where the driver has a view of the approaching traffic on the intersecting street before entering the intersection formed by the two streets, and shall yield the right-of-way to pedestrians legally crossing the street on which he is driving or to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on the intersecting street so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time such driver is moving across or within the intersection.

§ 251-3 Erection of signs.

[Amended 12-17-1980 by L.L. No. 5-1980]

Stop signs and yield signs shall be erected and maintained at locations on the streets heretofore listed as prescribed by the Vehicle and Traffic Law.

§ 251-4 Penalties for offenses.

Violation of this article shall be a traffic infraction under the Vehicle and Traffic Law and shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $25 for the first offense and not to exceed $50 for a second or succeeding offenses within 18 months.
