It shall be the duty of the owner or owners of any dwelling house, store, or other building erected or which may hereafter be erected and located upon any street or public alley of the Borough of Shillington now designated or which may be hereafter designated on the topographical plan of said Borough, to cause correct numbers to be placed and maintained upon said dwelling houses, stores, and other buildings; said numbers shall be of such size and shall be placed or affixed as to be plainly visible from the sidewalk of the street upon which said houses, stores, or other buildings are erected.

Every such owner or owners of a dwelling house, store, or other building erected or to be erected upon any street or public alley of said Borough, shall apply to and obtain from the Borough Secretary, upon paying to said Secretary for use of said Borough a numbering charge in an amount as established from time to time by resolution of Borough Council for each structure to be numbered, the proper number or numbers applicable to and designating said dwelling house, store, or other building.

It shall be the duty of the Borough Secretary, and he is hereby authorized and empowered and directed by order of the same, to number, and renumber the dwelling houses, stores, and other buildings as aforesaid, and shall prepare, keep and maintain suitable maps, plans, charts, and records showing the numbers applicable to, allotted or assigned to any such dwelling house, store, or other building; and upon being requested by any such owner or owners of any dwelling house, store, or other building, and after receiving from such owner or owners the numbering charge as herein provided for, shall furnish to such applicant the proper number or numbers, designating the dwelling house, store, or other building of such applicant, and said Secretary shall keep a proper record of all numbers so assigned.

Any person who shall violate any provision of this Part shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine not exceeding $1,000 and costs and, in default of payment thereof, shall be subject to imprisonment for a term not to exceed 30 days. Each day that a violation of this Part continues shall constitute a separate offense.
