[Ord. No. 2543, 8-16-2011]
There is hereby established a conservation, open space, and
agriculture commission, to advise and educate public bodies and private
citizens on the preservation, prudent use and development of natural
resources, including water, air, and agricultural resources, within
the town. It shall be known as the Town of Windham Conservation, Open
Space and Agriculture Commission. In addition to the authority given
to this commission under Chapter 97, Section 7-131a of the Connecticut
General Statutes, the conservation, open space, and agriculture commission
also shall foster agricultural viability in Windham.
The conservation, open space, and agriculture commission shall
consist of five members and three alternate members with terms of
four years. Insofar as practical, members appointed by the Town Council
shall be representative of all groups interested in the management
and protection, air, land and water resources, and the promotion of
a viable agricultural economy in Windham.
[Ord. No. 2543, 8-16-2011]
The Commission shall elect one of its members as chairman and
elect other officers, as it deems necessary, during its first regular
meeting annually.
[Ord. No. 2543, 8-16-2011]
The purpose of this article is to revise Sections 10-81 and 10-82 of the Town of Windham Code of Ordinances, by expanding the scope of responsibilities of the currently constituted conservation, open space, and agriculture commission. Nothing herein shall affect otherwise the continuity and validity of the work and authority of the currently constituted conservation, open space, and agriculture commission. The authority of the members currently holding office shall not be impaired or affected by this article, and each shall continue in office for the remainder of his or her regular term.
