The purpose of this article is to authorize the Willimantic
Fire Department to bill and collect such funds as may be available
to offset the costs for providing fire and rescue services.
The Willimantic Fire Department shall be authorized to render
charges for service beginning July 1, 2009, for any of the following
circumstances:
Fire suppression with documented property loss in a building
or vehicle or any type.
Rescue services involving any special equipment or of duration
longer than one hour.
Hazardous materials response involving any special equipment
or of duration longer than one hour.
Service calls with documented property loss in a building or
involving any special equipment or of duration longer than one hour.
The Fire Chief in consultation with the Board of Selectmen Willimantic
Service District shall establish and publish a schedule of rates for
each of these services on or before June 1 of each year. A copy shall
be posted at fire headquarters and shall be provided to the First
Selectman's office and/or Town Manager's office by that date.
The Fire Chief shall also establish and revise billing and collection
policies as needed to collect such funds as well as handle any uninsured
or underinsured service recipients.
