City of West Haven, CT Chapter 218 Vehicles, Parking Penalties

§ 218-1 Fines for parking violations.

The following shall be the fines for parking violations in the City of West Haven:

A. Group I, Penalty of $50:

(1) Vehicle on crosswalk;

(2) Beyond established time for area;

(3) Vehicle on sidewalk;

(4) Within 25 feet of corner;

(5) Within 25 feet of stop sign;

(6) More than 12 inches away from curb;

(7) Wrong side of curb;

(8) Obstructing driveway;

(9) Parking within 10 feet of a clearly visible residential mailbox, which is located directly adjacent to curbside or on a public right-of-way, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., except on Sundays and holidays.

B. Group II, Penalty of $75:

(1) Bus stop;

(2) Obstructing traffic;

(3) Loading zone;

(4) Parking prohibited, commercial vehicle in residential area;

(5) No-parking zone.

C. Group III, Penalty of $100:

(1) Beach parking lot without sticker;

(2) Winter parking violation (parking prohibited);

(3) Summer parking violation;

(4) Emergency order violation;

(5) Mayor's proclamation (parking violation);

(6) Fire lane or zone;

(7) Within 10 feet of fire hydrant;

(8) In tow zone.

D. Group IV, Penalty of $150:

(1) In handicapped parking space or area without official area handicapped notice.

E. If the penalty for any violation is not paid within 21 days of the issuance of a parking ticket, said penalty shall double.
