A. 
Upon change of occupancy: All buildings, structures and units thereof that are leased or rented, regardless of the term, in the Township of Jackson shall be inspected by the Code Enforcement Official on every initial occupancy or change of occupancy for compliance with the standards set forth in § 233-18.
B. 
Periodic: All buildings, structures and units thereof that are leased or rented in the Township of Jackson shall be inspected by the Code Enforcement Official once in every three-year period, regardless of whether a change in occupancy has occurred.

The owner, rental agent or manager of all buildings, structures and units thereof subject to inspection pursuant to this chapter shall be responsible for notifying the Code Enforcement Official, in writing, that such premises are leased or rented or being offered for lease or rental so that an inspection or reinspection may occur.

If, subsequent to the issuance of a rental certificate of occupancy, the Code Enforcement Official learns or becomes aware of violations of this article, an inspection shall be made of the subject premises. If violations are found to exist, then notification, in writing, shall be given to the owner, rental agent or manager, and said person shall have 10 days from service of the notice to correct all deficiencies noted therein. In the event that the same have not been corrected within 10 days, the rental certificate of occupancy may be revoked by the Housing Official by mailing a notice of revocation by certified mail to the owner, rental agent or manager and to the tenant or tenants, and the premises shall be vacated.
Any person violating or failing to comply with any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not more than $500 or imprisonment not to exceed 90 days, or both. Each day such violation is committed or continues after the first 30 days shall be deemed to constitute a separate offense for each day and shall be punishable by an additional fine of not more than $50 per day. The Township of Jackson may, at its discretion, seek injunctive relief from a court of competent jurisdiction of the State of New Jersey.
