The term of office of the Town Highway Superintendent shall henceforth be four years.
This article shall take effect with the term of office commencing January 1, 1988, if approved by the electorate.
This article is subject to a mandatory referendum pursuant to § 23 of the Municipal Home Rule Law of New York State. It shall be submitted to the electors of the Town of Montour at a regular election to be held on November 5, 1985.[2]

This article shall be known as the "Town Supervisor Law of the Town of Montour."
This article is enacted pursuant to the authority granted to the Town by Municipal Home Rule Law as well as other applicable provisions of state law.
It is the intent of this article to change the term of office of the Town Supervisor from two years to four years.
The term of office of the Town Supervisor first elected pursuant to this article shall be elected prior to and take office on the first day of January 1990, and the term of office shall expire on December 31, 1994. Thereafter, the term of office of each Town Supervisor so elected shall be four years, to commence on the first day of January and to expire on the 31st day of December four years thereafter.
This article shall be subject to a mandatory referendum as provided by law.[1]
