The Edgewood Borough Council shall by a proper ordinance duly passed at a duly constituted Council meeting designate a particular handicapped parking space on any street or thoroughfare in the Borough of Edgewood, which shall be marked as a handicapped parking space and used as a handicapped parking space.

Editor's Note: Handicapped parking spaces enacted prior to 6-7-2004 were enacted by resolution and consequently were not included in the text of this schedule. Consult Borough records for a complete listing of all handicapped parking spaces.
Handicapped parking spaces shall be permitted upon issuance of a permit by the police of the Borough of Edgewood for a period of one year, and upon the expiration of one year shall be resubmitted and reevaluated by the Council of the Borough of Edgewood for approval for an additional year, with the process to continue from year to year until the handicapped need is removed or the premises is sold.
In the event that there is no longer a need for a handicapped space or in the event that the property has been sold, the handicapped parking permit shall be removed and all signs indicating such space shall be removed.
Any person who shall violate any provisions of this section by parking in said handicapped space without proper handicapped identification shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $50 nor more than $200 by this section, or such fines and penalties as determined through the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code (75 Pa.C.S.A. § 101 et seq.), and costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than five days.
